Get to know all about Storm Equestrian - what we do, our mission and our history. Storm Equestrian is a small horse facility in Northern Iowa that offers riding lessons.
We also have a small Arabian breeding program focusing on the Spanish and Crabbet lines, looking to grow that in the future.
We believe that Arabians should be able to do anything, whether be a trail horse for a family, an all around western horse or an eventer. With a solid mind, willingness to please and correct confirmation they can go any direction.
At Storm Equestrian we feel incredibly lucky that we get to do what we love. We’d love for you to take part in the Storm Equestrian experience. For more information, get in touch!
We believe that anyone can benefit from the wonderful experience of horses in their life. Our goal is that we can share the love of horses to the community and assist anyone in having an amazing bond between them and their horses.
For lots of people just getting into horses, there are so many questions and there is so much information out there. Don't be afraid to reach out, say hi and ask for some advice if you're struggling. We can all improve together as a team.
Everything started years ago when owner Mary wanted a pony. Her parents bought her a nice little POA named Tuffy that had been used to run barrels in the past and had the tendency to get a little excited. They didn't know the best way to handle that situation and got in touch with their neighbor Susan Skow who owned and ran a breeding and training facility only a few miles away.
With the help of Susan, Mary gained confidence with Tuffy and started riding other horses that she had throughout the years. Mary ended up with two show horses, one an Arabian Saddlebred cross named Missy and another a purebred Arabian named Haybabe.
Both the horses and Mary were young when they started their show careers but with Susan's help, they were able to show throughout Iowa and be successful. This started Mary's love for Arabian horses.
